International Olympiacos!

The Legend is deservingly one of the top European clubs and they proved this once more on Saturday evening. In the third fixture for the International Champions Cup, our side played against the Premier League Champions, Manchester City, and managed to win 5-4 on penalties, as the match ended with a 2-2 draw during normal play time.

This win may not be enough to get our side in the Miami final, but it proves that Olympiacos keep improving and progressing, aiming higher all the time!

Our side was off to a strong start and it had possession of the ball during the first minutes of the match. For yet another match, the Legend proved that they can look top European football clubs in the eye, since they had more chances to score.

The "Citizens" had a hard time playing their game and stopping the "red-and-white" efforts, and Diamantakos asked for a penalty in the 25th minute when Boyata challenged him in the box and appeared not to touch the ball.

A nice move by Jovetic in the 35th minute led to the opening goal for City, but the exceptional Diamantakos levelled for Olympiacos two minutes later, following a neat combination between Saviola and Maniatis.

In general, the team appeared to become more cohesive as the combinations of our players created several problems to the City players, despite the fact that they had a dynamic start in the second half, forcing Roberto to make some fine saves. The successful penalty shot by Kolarov did not deter our players and Diamantakos equalized for Olympiacos following a wonderful pass by Ghazaryan in the 66th minute.

There was no change in the score so the two teams had to go to penalties; Roberto was the better goalkeeper and Papazoglou kept his cool during the critical penalty allowing the Legend to leave this great tournament with their heads high and to make their mark, at the same time gaining many precious experiences!

In conclusion, the team gets better every day, it grows big and promises a lot for the future!
